Crap You’re Leaving Behind In 2015 (And What You Might Take Into 2016)

It is time once again for my favorite year-end reflection ritual. I will spend time this week honestly assessing all of my life events of 2015. Many of my clients, family and friends participate in this annual ritual to yield insight and create space to celebrate the wins of this past year as well.

“Tomorrow, is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.” ― Brad Paisley via @Terri_Cole {CLICK TO TWEET}

It can be tempting to plow into 2016 without missing a beat but I hope you choose, instead, to join us for a thorough and honest look back at 2015. New Year’s allows us to clean the slate.

To help gain clarity on what needs to go and what you want to take with you to make 2016 what you want it to be, please do the exercise below.

Create THREE separate lists:

Write down experiences, feelings, people, circumstances… anything that you do not want to drag with you into 2016. Share this list with a trusted friend who will witness without judgment. Then, burn the list SOMEPLACE SAFE so the energy attached to it can be released back into the universe and out of your experience.

Write down what you learned from your experiences, good and bad. Once you honor what you learned, you won’t need to repeat the crappy situations. Even the worst experience has a gem. You just have to be willing to look through the crap to find it. Hold onto this list.

Write what you want to create for yourself: how you want your life to look and feel. This list should be written in the present tense and include all areas of your life: love, health, family, wealth, friends, career, fitness, spirituality, etc. Marinate, meditate, and think on what you have written. Put this list where you can see it easily as you take daily steps to make them happen.

When you look at this list, feel the feelings of having those things. By conjuring the feelings you become a magnet that will draw the experiences to you.

It is a proven fact that writing down your intentions gives them a much better chance of actually coming to fruition. Create some time and space to creatively write your lists. Invite some friends to your 2016 intention setting party and make it fun!

I would love to witness your list. Please share one thing from your leave it list and one from your keep/create it list on my Facebook fan page.

I am wishing you your heart’s desire in 2016 and as always, take care of you.

Love Love Love,

    this is my favorite thing to do every year- I’ve been doing it since 2011 and it has infinitely changed my experiences. I have passed it on to so many friends over the years and it’s given many a newfound excitement for the new year. thank you so much for this wonderful ritual. happy new year 🙂
