Learn to Harness the Power of Your Intuition from Colette Baron-Reid!

You can Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes, SoundCloud, Stitcher or TuneIn   My intuition saved my life. In 1998, after a cancer diagnosis, surgery and radiation treatment the doctors gave me a clean bill of health. This is exactly what you hope to hear on your follow visit and thankfully I felt perfectly fine…physically. But…I could not not shake this nagging feeling that something else was wrong. I felt that there was more cancer that they missed. Everyone thought I was nuts and just traumatized from what I had been through. The surgeon at the hospital that claims to provide, “the best cancer care anywhere,” was such a condescending jerk when I tried to discuss my ‘feeling’ that I fired him on the spot. My husband agreed that I should trust my intuition and follow it. So we surgeon shopped in NYC until I found a doctor who would remove the other half of my thyroid based solely on my non-medical intuition. I was diagnosed with a more dangerous cancer that could spread to lungs and bones. I had another surgery and more radiation. My surgeon said, “I am really glad we listened to your intuition.” Um…me too pal!   Do you have a story like mine? How dialed into your own intuition or innate wisdom are you? When you get a gut instinct about something, do you follow it or are you afraid to trust what you’re feeling?   From a therapeutic point of view there are many factors that can block your ability to recognize the wisdom of your intuition. A dysfunctional family system of physical or sexual abuse can deny...
Crap You’re Leaving Behind In 2015 (And What You Might Take Into 2016)

Crap You’re Leaving Behind In 2015 (And What You Might Take Into 2016)

It is time once again for my favorite year-end reflection ritual. I will spend time this week honestly assessing all of my life events of 2015. Many of my clients, family and friends participate in this annual ritual to yield insight and create space to celebrate the wins of this past year as well. “Tomorrow, is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.” ― Brad Paisley via @Terri_Cole {CLICK TO TWEET} It can be tempting to plow into 2016 without missing a beat but I hope you choose, instead, to join us for a thorough and honest look back at 2015. New Year’s allows us to clean the slate. To help gain clarity on what needs to go and what you want to take with you to make 2016 what you want it to be, please do the exercise below. Create THREE separate lists: CRAP YOU’RE LEAVING IN 2015 Write down experiences, feelings, people, circumstances… anything that you do not want to drag with you into 2016. Share this list with a trusted friend who will witness without judgment. Then, burn the list SOMEPLACE SAFE so the energy attached to it can be released back into the universe and out of your experience. GEMS YOU’RE KEEPING FROM 2015 Write down what you learned from your experiences, good and bad. Once you honor what you learned, you won’t need to repeat the crappy situations. Even the worst experience has a gem. You just have to be willing to look through the crap to find it. Hold onto this list. WHAT YOU’RE CREATING IN 2016...
Create a Zen Den

Create a Zen Den

Have you ever taken a moment to look around your house, office, car, etc. and compare how it looks to how you feel? If your house is clutter free, do you feel spacious and calm? If your office is a heap of papers, does it invoke stress and anxiety in you? How about the reverse? Do your surroundings become disheveled or cleaner based on your frame of mind? Well, there are studies that prove this notion! Your physical and emotional states are always playing off each other, as we are discovering more and more with revelations around the mind-body connection. Body is not only your physical body but your environment as well. In my years counseling clients, I have encouraged them to analyze their surroundings and create living and working environments that are in line with the life they want to create. My Live Fearless and Free blueprint for daily living, which is a set psychological strategies and actionable solutions to create a life that thrills you, includes creating a custom Zen Den. This doesn’t have to mean completely overhauling the house or gutting your work cubicle. It can be as simple as adding a colorful throw pillow, live plants, or pictures of loved ones to your space. It can also be as basic as taking the time to clean out the car, the pantry, and filing cabinets. Clutter is an energy drain, so clearing it not only frees your space physically but mentally as well. Creating a sacred space around you and taking care of your environment reminds you to tend to the divine sacred space within you....
Tap Into the Incredible Power of Your Intention

Tap Into the Incredible Power of Your Intention

I often write and talk about harnessing the mind blowing power of your intention to create what you want in your life. Taking action mindfully and with intention on a regular basis is what separates those who simply live their life from those who love the life they are orchestrating. When you are clear on what it is you want, you can live your life on purpose and with purpose. You can make decisions, behave and speak in ways that are inspired by your desires. Your choices are more often made with intention rather than by habit. Having a strong connection to your intentions, dreams and values helps you to create a life by design rather than default. Your Life Flows Where Your Intention Goes @Terri_Cole {CLICK TO TWEET} Setting Your INTENTION Means DECIDING then DOING #BeBold @Terri_Cole {CLICK TO TWEET} By creating and setting intentions you are taking responsibility for your happiness. Intention setting is not the equivalent of handing your wish list to the Universe and waiting for your desired results or not taking action steps towards your desired outcome but ‘hoping’ it will happen none the less. Setting intentions is deciding what you want, what you are willing to do to make it happen and not stopping until it becomes your reality. For best results I suggest setting intentions at the beginning of every day, right after your morning meditation. Setting intentions can help you create success and stay on track no matter what you decide to do. Some of my favorite intentions that I set almost daily include intentions to stay internally peaceful, to extend...
FREE Guided Spring Renewal Meditation

FREE Guided Spring Renewal Meditation

The word “renewal” means to begin again or to replace what is worn out or broken. A time of renewal can be a chance to start fresh, reconnect to what brings you happiness or to release what is no longer working. I see Spring as an opportunity to renew motivation and inspiration in areas that may have become stagnant or as a time to re-access situations, relationships or habits that are no longer serving your highest good. Several weeks ago I wrote about the importance of conducting a Psychological Spring Clean. I suggested making a list of all situations and relationships that have become problematic or no longer joyful. Hopefully, this process gave you a better understanding of what in your life needs your attention. For many people it simply doesn’t occur to them to question the status quo. Honestly assessing your satisfaction level in all areas of your life may require you to take action in new and different ways that may be out of your comfort zone. This is when your fear mind or Mafia Mind, as I like to call it, will come up with very convincing arguments not to ‘rock the boat.’ For this reason, when my clients are in the process of assessing their life seeking renewal, I guide them to develop a daily practice that will fuel their progress. This practice has the power to create space between your thoughts which gives you more control over what happens in your mind. Your beliefs can propel you towards an amazing life, or hold you back entirely. Meditation helps you recognize that you have a...
Visualization: The Step by Step Guide You’ve Been Waiting For

Visualization: The Step by Step Guide You’ve Been Waiting For

You must BELIEVE it to see it @Terri_Cole {CLICK TO TWEET} The notion of using visualization to achieve a goal is not altogether new. Athletes and chess players have been using this technique to enhance their performance for decades. I have taught visualization as a tool to manifest a desired result, to clients and students all over the country for the past fifteen years. Wishing or hoping is the opposite of visualizing and planning. Visualization requires you to harness the power of your intention to create what you seek. Before you put energy into visualizing you have to first answer the question: Are you more comfortable WANTING than HAVING? @Terri_Cole {CLICK TO TWEET} That is really a topic for another blog but worth looking at because if you’re more comfortable wanting, you will find ways (probably unconscious) to sabotage what you are seeking to create. If, on the other hand, you want what you want, with all of your heart (as Danielle LaPorte might say) below is a quick three step exercise on how to use visualization as a tool to manifest. Be Specific  The more specific you are in your visualization the better. Imagine your future; you have already achieved your goal. Imagine the scene with as much detail as possible. See a mental picture of it as if it were happening to you right now. Engage as many of the five senses as you can. Who are you with? What are you feeling right now? What do you smell? What do you hear? what are you wearing? What is around you? Speak it We speak things into...
