All of us have a downloaded blueprint in our subconscious mind of How It Really Is. I use the term “blueprint” because your belief system is like the architectural blueprint for a house…that someone else designed. Whether it’s finances, love, health, or any other aspect of your life, how you were raised, the lessons you were taught, and your home environment all formed that blueprint. These blueprints are passed down through generations and become your reality. However, just as with any architectural blueprint, you can change your mind’s framework if the one you have is not producing the results you seek. If you want to move from fear into freedom, the first step is to understand your current blueprint and what you can do to change it.
Here are some Present Moment Consciousness Exercises to help you gain clarity of your mind’s current design plan and how you can go about re-structuring:
1. Take a Fearless Inventory
I LOVE this exercise because it really inspires you to recognize your fears and limiting beliefs. Knowledge and desire to change what is not working in your life is the first step to creating a life you L*O*V*E where fear informs but does not dominate. You’re actually stockpiling an inventory of fearlessness!
First Page:
- Draw a line down the center of a sheet of paper.
- On the top of left side of the line, write, “What Do I Want More Of In My Life?”
Then write the following categories leaving some space between each to fill in what you want more of:
- Career
- Love
- Finances
- Spirituality
- Health & Wellness
- Family
- Other
- On the top of the right hand column, write, “What Do I Want Less Of In My Life?”
Then write the same categories leaving some space between each to fill in what you want less of:
- Career
- Love
- Finances
- Spirituality
- Health & Wellness
- Family
- Other
- Take some time to fill out each category. When you are finished, tear the paper along the center line, safely burn the Want Less list, and hang the Want More list where you can see it on a daily basis.
Second Page:
- Write “Kicking the Crap Out of My Mafia Mind” across the top of the page.
I refer to your fear mind as your mafia mind because just as the mafia extorts money for “protection”, your fear mind behaves the EXACT same way by extorting the joy from your life by threatening you with what MAY happen (fear fear fear).
- Throughout the day, police your mind for deep down limiting beliefs that get in the way of what you are creating. Write them down.
- Create a counter statement to each of the limiting statements. These will help form your affirmations.
Example:
Limiting belief: I am bad with money.
Counter statement: My abundance flows with ease and everyday I become more masterful at effectively handling my finances.
Third Page:
Every day, answer the following questions:
1st – What daily actions can I take to support creating my dream life?
Examples of Positive Daily Actions:
Meditate
Hydrate
Eat lots of fruits and veggies
Exercise
Take a 5-minute break every 3 hours to sit and take deep breaths
2nd – What is today’s mantra (i.e. today’s motto/mission statement)?
Example: All good things come to me.
3rd – How do I feel today?
4th – What courageous act can I take today to bring me out of fear and into freedom?
5th – What am I grateful for today?
The next 4 relate to your Fearless Inventory. Not only can these help you fill out your fearless inventory, but can also keep the momentum of the writing exercise going.
2. Be Here Now
By creating the ability to be present in your life, you create the opening to catch the fearful thought before it gets filed in the “reality” bin. The only way to change ingrained thought patterns is to be aware enough, in the present moment, to stop and change the thought. You can achieve this through breathing exercises, daily meditation, and awareness. Changing anything on purpose is almost impossible if you don’t have internal stillness and silence. You need to slow down enough to become the observer of your thoughts in order to sort through them and figure out which are fear-based and not serving your purpose and which are opportunities for you to create the life of your dreams. 3. Words Have Wings
Be aware of the way you talk and change the language that is not in line with your goals. Use positive words spoken in the present tense and feel those words as if they are true right here right now. We create change with the words we use, the thoughts we hold in our mind, and the feelings they inspire. Need help? Read more on Creating Affirmations.
4. Manifesting Nightly Ritual
As the last thing you do before you fall asleep, take time to think about what you want to create in your life and conjure the feelings of having it. Then release it (don’t hold onto those feelings or begin to worry about how they are going to come to fruition) and dose off into la-la land.
5. Seeing is Believing
Create a vision board of what you want in your life. Look at the board a few times a day and engage all of your senses to create the full experience of actually having what is on the board.
Changing your mind about anything is work. The realization that you CAN change your mind, and therefore your life, is the start. This is not magical thinking but science – neuroplasticity. New neural pathways are formed in your brain as you change your habitual thoughts, language, and feelings from fear to freedom. So quiet your doubting mind, try something new, and see what transpires.
